Terms of Service

Welcome to MetaClean Web ("the Extension", "we", "us"). By installing or using the MetaClean Web Chrome browser extension, you agree to be bound by the following Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not install or use the Extension.
1. Service Description
MetaClean Web is a Chrome browser extension that provides the following core functionality:
- Detects file uploads (file inputs, drag-and-drop, and paste) on websites you visit, using host permissions solely for upload interception.
- Reads metadata from images (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC), PDF, and Office documents (DOCX, XLSX, PPTX) locally in your browser.
- Lets you view, selectively remove, or edit metadata fields and apply compliance templates before sharing files.
- Paid tiers (Pro, Team, Enterprise) unlock PDF and Office scrubbing, unlimited batch processing, custom templates, audit reports, and higher device limits per your license.
The Free tier provides image metadata scrubbing forever (up to 3 files per batch). Paid features are unlocked via a one-time purchase.
2. User Eligibility
By using the Extension, you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 13 years of age (or the digital age of consent in your jurisdiction).
- You have the capacity and authority to install and use Chrome browser extensions.
- You will not use the Extension for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
- You will comply with these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations.
3. License
3.1 Free Version
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Free version of the Extension on your device in accordance with these Terms. Free-tier features may change from time to time, but we are committed to keeping core image metadata scrubbing free.
3.2 Paid Versions (Pro, Team, Enterprise)
Pro ($9.99 USD): a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license for Pro features on up to 2 devices.
Team ($49.99 USD): a commercial license for teams of up to 10 seats, with up to 10 devices per License Key.
Enterprise ($129.99 USD): a company-wide license with unlimited seats and Unlimited devices per License Key, plus priority email support and a private deployment guide.
Paid licenses are one-time purchases; unlocked features remain available while your license is validly activated. Before using a 3 device, switching computers, reinstalling, or uninstalling, you must deactivate on this device in the Extension, then activate the same key on the new setup. Licenses may not be transferred to other users. Activation failures caused by uninstalling without deactivating first are not product defects — contact support@zhangyuanbo.top for help resetting your license binding.
3.3 Restrictions
You may not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the Extension (except as expressly permitted by law).
- Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the Extension.
- Rent, lease, sell, sublicense, or transfer the Extension or your License Key to any third party.
- Use automated means to crack or bypass the license verification mechanism.
- Remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the Extension.
4. Intellectual Property
The Extension and all of its content and features (including but not limited to code, text, icons, trademarks, and logos) are the exclusive property of MetaClean Web or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and international conventions.
The Extension uses the following open-source components:
- pdf-lib (MIT License)
- ExifReader (Mozilla Public License 2.0)
- fflate (MIT License)
The license terms of these open-source components apply to their respective portions.
5. User Data & Privacy
We take your privacy seriously. MetaClean Web processes files you select 100% locally on your device — file contents are never uploaded to our servers, and we do not read page text or collect browsing history. For details, please see our Privacy Policy.
You are solely responsible for verifying that scrubbed files meet your compliance requirements before sharing them. Metadata removal depends on file format, encryption, and structure — you must review cleaned files yourself.
6. Payment Terms
6.1 Price
Paid licenses are priced at $9.99 USD (Pro), $49.99 USD (Team), and $129.99 USD (Enterprise), or equivalent in other currencies. We reserve the right to change pricing at any time, but price changes will not affect completed purchases.
6.2 Payment Processing
All payments are processed through Creem. Creem is the Merchant of Record (MoR), responsible for transaction processing, tax calculation, and invoicing. You agree to comply with Creem's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
6.3 Taxes
Displayed prices may not include applicable taxes. Taxes will be calculated and displayed at checkout by Creem based on your location and applicable tax laws.
7. Refund Policy
We offer a full refund within 14 days of purchase for Pro, Team, and Enterprise licenses. To request a refund, please email support@zhangyuanbo.top with your License Key. See our Refund Policy for details.
8. Disclaimer
The Extension is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- The Extension will operate uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.
- Metadata will be fully detected or removed from every file format, including encrypted or password-protected PDFs and complex or uncommon document structures.
- Scrubbed files will meet all of your regulatory or compliance requirements without your independent verification.
- Locally stored settings or audit summaries will never be lost (please back up important data).
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MetaClean Web and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data loss, business interruption, or computer failure, regardless of cause, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
In no event shall our total liability to you for all claims related to these Terms or the Extension exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid for your license in the past 12 months; or (b) $10 USD.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MetaClean Web and its developers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of: (a) your violation of these Terms; (b) your use of the Extension; (c) your sharing of files after scrubbing without adequate verification; or (d) your infringement of any third-party rights.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the Extension if:
- You violate these Terms.
- You engage in fraudulent or illegal activity, including license abuse.
- We are required to do so by law or regulatory requirement.
You may terminate these Terms at any time by uninstalling the Extension. If a paid license is active, deactivate on this device in Settings before uninstalling. Upon termination, data stored on your device remains under your control.
12. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Extension update log or on this page. Your continued use of the Extension after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms.
If changes involve significant rights of paid license holders, we will provide at least 30 days notice before the changes take effect.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall first be resolved through friendly negotiation; if negotiation fails, they shall be submitted to a court of competent jurisdiction.
If you are located in another jurisdiction, you must also comply with applicable local laws.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable or invalid, such provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect and enforceable.
15. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the use of the Extension and supersede all prior or contemporaneous oral or written communications and proposals.
